"It’s my lot in life to be enveloped by the grace, wit, power, and prowess of women." - Nick Mosby
My entire life I’ve been surrounded by women. I was raised in a three bedroom East Baltimore house with my mother, aunts, sister, and grandmother. I tell everyone I was the man of my house since day one. Like so many other families, my grandmother was the matriarch. Cloaked by her love, I was weaned on the strength, resiliency, tenacity, and tireless resolve of all the women in my family.
That tradition continues today. I thought I would grow up, have my own family, and finally have a son or two who could help me take out the trash. Instead, God blessed my wife and me with two beautiful daughters and three beautiful nieces. It’s my lot in life to be enveloped by the grace, wit, power, and prowess of women. For that, I am so grateful.
Across the country women are making great strides. The number of businesses owned by women has skyrocketed, and women of color have ascended to the upper ranks of workplaces across industries. Yet, these achievements can obscure the very real challenges and disparities that persist for many women in Baltimore. Though there are many women achieving great things here in our city, there are still not enough opportunities.
As women, you are often the ones on the frontlines protecting our children from the ubiquitous crime plaguing our city, trying to navigate failing schools, and dealing with a lack of resources and sparse job opportunities. When women are dealing with all these issues and are the sole breadwinners for the household, these disparities do not just affect you, but it affects our families and communities as well.
That’s why I’ve developed a comprehensive 15 point plan that will serve as a blue print for addressing Baltimore’s toughest challenges. And I’m depending on YOU to help implement and execute this plan with me.
You are this city’s greatest ally. Women are the anchors of the community. And it is you who will decide the future of this city. Together, we will write the next chapter of Baltimore’s storied history. When women band together to advocate for our highest ideals, we can advance our common well-being and strengthen the fabric of Baltimore City. And we’ve definitely got our work cut out for us.
As Women for Mosby, I’m asking for your support.
